Oslo

Today we went to the Vigelandspaeken Sculpture Park in Oslo. The park houses sculptures made by Gustav Vigeland (over 200 sculptures in bronze, granite and cast iron), who also planned the layout of the park. All the sculptures are naked and they dont look like they came out of a magazine either. Taking place on the lawn in the distance was a concert celebration that was blasting "Don't Stop Believing" and "I Love Rock N' Roll" for the Fourth of July, regardless of the fact that today is only the third.

Above and to the left is one of the most famous sculptures of an angry little boy called "Sinnataggen" who looks as if he is throwing a tantrum. A few years ago someone cut his leg and stole him from the park, but he still managed to find his way back.
To the right is one of my personal favorites: Most of the sculptures portray love and affection but this one doesn't.

The Monolith

There were several stations where the guards guard the King's palace. we even got to witnes the changing of the guards. I would personally hate to be a guard. They have to keep a straight face when people are taking pictures of them and they just have to stand there for a long time while people are just looking at them. I really don't think I would be fit for that job.

The architecture in Oslo is unique and each building has it's own characteristics, but the style is always very beautiful and European.
